Dental bridges
Do you have missing teeth? Dental bridges close up the gaps created by the absence of these teeth. A dental bridge is an artificial tooth that is held in place by support called abutment teeth. Dental bridges are usually produced from materials like gold and porcelain. However, the porcelain option is more in use because of its close fit to the appearance of the natural teeth.
Advantages of having dental bridges
- It restores one’s ability to speak and chew properly
- It maintains your facial structure
- Evenly distributes the biting force by replacing the lost tooth
- Prevents your leftover tooth from shifting out of their place
Our dental bridge treatment
Firstly, our expert dentist at Tunbridge will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and take impressions of them. He/she will later use these impressions to create a temporary bridge for you to use until the more permanent replacement is produced. The bridge will be adjusted to suit your bites and fit you perfectly. It usually takes about two weeks for a dental bridge to be made available.
Talk to our dentist about the available replacement options if you have one or more missing teeth. There are many advantages of having dental bridges, and you should consider them before undergoing any procedure.
The number of appointments you need for a complete treatment
It will take at least two appointments to have a comprehensive dental bridge treatment at Tunbridge Dental Care. However, you will need to visit us before then if your tooth has to be extracted before replacing it with the bridge.
What to expect during a dental bridge treatment
After extracting your tooth, our dentist will provide a temporary bridge that you will use for 30 to 60 months until you heal. After this, a more definitive and fitted and well-shaped bridge will be given to you.
Your first appointment will be to prepare your bridge. The dentist will take impressions of your teeth and its corresponding shade. A dental bridge takes 1 to 2 weeks to be complete, but while waiting, you will be given a temporary bridge to close the gap.
How long will a dental bridge last?
If you care properly for your dental bridge, it can serve you for about 10 to 15 years.
